Travelling to North Korea on a Russia passport, you need a visa, arranged before you travel.

Russia has a short land border with North Korea, and the Khasan to Tumangang rail crossing is one of the few working overland routes into the country, alongside periodic Air Koryo flights connecting Vladivostok and Pyongyang.

That gives Russian passport holders a more direct path in than most nationalities get, but the visa itself still runs through a registered tour operator rather than an embassy application, and travel inside North Korea stays confined to the group's state-assigned itinerary throughout the trip.
