Travelling to Iraq on a Ireland passport, you need an e-visa, applied for online before you travel.

You apply for Iraq's e-visa online, not through a consulate. Note that the Kurdistan Region issues its own e-visa independent of Baghdad's; that matters if Erbil (EBL) is your entry point rather than Baghdad (BGW).

Have the emailed approval on hand when you arrive; officers check it at passport control. Plan to apply before you fly rather than on the day of travel.
