Travelling to Iraq on a New Zealand passport, you need an e-visa, applied for online before you travel.

You will handle this entirely online, through Iraq's e-visa portal. Note that the Kurdistan Region issues its own e-visa independent of Baghdad's; that matters if Erbil (EBL) is your entry point rather than Baghdad (BGW).

Have the emailed approval on hand when you arrive; officers check it at passport control. It is worth submitting the application a few days ahead rather than right before departure.
