Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM): arrival & transit guide
What to expect landing at Douglas-Charles Airport in Marigot, Dominica: the arrival flow, transit rules, and onward transport.
Douglas-Charles Airport, on Dominica's northeast coast at Marigot, is the island's main airport, a single building well outside the capital, Roseau, on the opposite side of the island. Passport control here runs two lanes, one for CARICOM and Dominican travelers and a separate visitor lane, feeding into one shared baggage carousel.
Off the aircraft, head straight to immigration and join the lane matching your status. Nearly every nationality enters Dominica without a visa for an ordinary tourist stay, a small list of exceptions aside, and the counter itself is a simple document check: have your passport, any visa your nationality specifically needs, and a return or onward ticket ready, along with your accommodation details.
There is no dedicated airside transit area at Douglas-Charles, so a connecting international passenger clears the same immigration and baggage process as anyone ending their trip on Dominica.
Because the airport sits on the far side of the island from Roseau and most hotels, the drive out is longer than at many Caribbean airports, commonly well over half an hour; taxis and pre-arranged transfers are the standard way to make that trip.
