Do I need a visa for Australia from Vietnam?

What you need to apply

• PassportThe pages of your current passport showing your photo, your personal details, and the issue and expiry dates.
• Completed application formThe online application, created and lodged through ImmiAccount.
• Application feePaid when you lodge the application. Use the Visa Pricing Estimator to work out what yours costs.
• Travel itineraryYour plans while in Australia.
• Proof of sufficient fundsProof you have enough money for your stay and to leave again: itemised personal bank statements covering three months, pay slips, audited accounts, tax records, term deposits or credit card statements.
• Evidence of ties to your home countryProof you have reasons to return home, such as a letter from your employer saying you plan to return to your job, proof you study at home, proof of immediate family there, or proof you own a house or other major assets.
• Invitation or sponsorship letterIf a relative or friend in Australia is inviting you: a letter giving their relationship to you, the purpose and length of your visit, and whether you will stay with them. If they are paying for your stay, add proof of their funds.
• Civil documentsA national identity card if you have one, and proof of any change of name, such as a marriage or divorce certificate.
• Parental consent for a traveller under 18For an applicant under 18: a birth certificate showing both parents' names, and Form 1229 or a statutory declaration of consent from anyone with a legal right to decide where the child lives who is not travelling with them.
• Police certificateA military service record or discharge papers, if applicable. A police certificate may be asked for, and is expected if you have a criminal conviction in any country.

Scan or photograph every document in colour, and submit an English translation alongside anything not already in English. You must be outside Australia both when you apply and when the visa is decided.
